PA DOH Nursing Home Facilities Best Practices Project
During the past five years, over 100 Pennsylvania nursing homes participated in the Pennsylvania Department of Health Nursing Care Facilities Best Practices Project (2001-2006). This ground-breaking project is nationally recognized for Best Practices protocols that deliver quality improvement results for nursing homes and their residents. The project successfully implemented Best Practices in five key areas:
- Self-Care for Seniors (Activities of Daily Living in Eating and Dressing)
- Managing Pain in Nursing Home Residents
- Managing Depression in Nursing Home Residents
- Prevention of Pressure Ulcers in Nursing Home Residents
- Management of Urinary Incontinence in Nursing Home Residents
These protocols are scientifically tested and consistently improve nursing home quality of care. The training program for the Best Practices project is available and more information can be obtained by completing the form below.
