Morrison Informatics, Inc. conducts New Nursing Care Facilities Best Practice Project in Pennsylvania
Under a contract with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Health, Morrison Informatics, Inc. is conducting a major nursing home quality improvement demonstration project to provide Pennsylvania’s nursing homes with best practices for improving patient quality of care. The project will identify the most serous types of quality problems in Pennsylvania’s nursing homes and based on an analysis of those problems, “best practices” pilot project will be implemented at selected sites to improve quality of care outcomes. Successful best practices models and training materials will be made available throughout the state so that nursing homes can replicate them and improve the quality of care in Pennsylvania’s nursing homes. Cost-Forecasting Software for Medicare Medical Rehabilitation Prospective Payment System
Based on the initiation of the new Medicare prospective payment system for medical rehabilitation, Morrison Informatics, Inc. has developed automated system for forecasting the costs and expected financial margins for patients treated by rehabilitation hospitals and units. The system can be used for pre-admission evaluation of patients and for case management of patients after admission. The system is based on Medicare rehabilitation patient classification groups and reimbursement amounts and in facility financial, length of stay and clinical case-mix data. The system can also be modified for use in producing pro-forma estimates of new rehabilitation facility operations. Morrison Informatics provides skilled nursing facility cost-forecasting software that very rapidly evaluates SNF patient medical severity, provides a forecast of expected costs, expected RUG reimbursement and expected margin. The software also continuously provides case-mix management reports to enable evaluation of actual patient cost, reimbursement, and margin by both patient medical severity and RUG classification.
